were told you by the agency that they use tohire through and you had were told you had all of the qualifications that they are looking for and they need you asap and you asked for a compromise of say half of the original offer to start and you haven't heard back from them you already resigned from your previous position because it involves moving to another state would you continue as planned to move or not stay where you are?

Do you have the offer in writing? If you don't have an offer in writing, you don't have an offer.

If you have an offer in writing for less what you what the agency led you to believe, but they haven't responded to your counter-offer, you still don't have an offer.

I hope you left your previous job on good terms and can go back to them, because you may need to.

Do you have an actual offer letter or has everything been by phone? I would call the person making the offer and have them send you a written offer. I would be very wary. If they are going to try to screw you from the beginning, what are they going to do down the road?

It does sound like you jumped the gun by resigning before you had a deal locked.

Whatever the 'agency' told you is meaningless. If half of that is more than the company offered, that alone should have told you they were CLUELESS. Resigning from your old job before you have a CONTRACT for the new one tells me you don't have the qualifications I would require for any job that requires relocating. My bet is you no longer have an offer.

Negotiate it back up to the original offer or better.

I assume they did this b/c you told them you've already resigned and they thought they could sqeeze you. Don't fall for their doggy little scam.

Tell them you will accept the position based on the original offer.

Make them hold up to their end of the bargain!!! If they are ripping you off from the start - do you really want to work for this company?
