I am a lesbian, i could never find the words to come out to my parents, my mother asked me whillst we were shopping (ov all places!) was i seein a friend ov mine, i was TERRIFIED she would disown me, but wouldnt lie about my sexuality now she new, she was fantastic about it, so was the rest ov my family, the only 3 that had v small problems were my father (who had called me a lesbian from the age of 13!) my grandad who said it was a phase, and my little bro because no one bothered to tell him. only told u my story due to the fact the it is FAMILY and they should be takin care ov 1 another not throwing him out because he decided he did not want to live a lie, or live his life in secret but because he wanted to be honest and accepted, and for makin wot was possibily the hardest desicion ov his life he is now being punished by the people that shoul love him the most.
He needs every1 he can get right now so if his own parents cannot accept him he is probably goin to be feelin VERY low right now, so it a good job he has got u as a friend

Sadly enough, the fact of life is that IGNORANCE still abounds in this world.
My daughter (married for 14 years, with one child) left her spouse because she finally acknowledged that she is gay.
Your child loves who they love and that's the way it is. Nothing has changed in how we feel about her.
I will say that this family just needs time to absorb what they have learned and then hopefully learn to accept it. Acceptance is not instantaneous.
Good Luck to your mates' son.

So wrong and mean of them.
I really hope that they rethink this, but maybe he'll reflect on the 'quality' of who brought him into this world and then would treat him in such an appalling way. Perhaps he'll choose to disown them.
Perhaps you can get them to rethink their poor decision and show him how loving, I hope, that they can be.
At least gay parents aren't likely to be as conditionally 'loving' as these two.
Good luck! Rob

There is no excuse for behavior like that. The friends of yours obviously show no love to their son when he needs love the most, I recently came out to my parents and while my mum wasnt exactly thrlled that she wont get any grand-children, she accepts me and loves that im now happy and gave me support when i needed it the most. Those "parents" if we can call them parents, should be ashamed of themselves!

That is terrible - how narrow minded can the parents be - that is their flesh and blood. I thought you loved your children unconditionally or that is what some parents like to bleat on about anyway!.
I hope this young man will build his life up and never speak to his parents again - even when they are old. I would turn my back on them.

Wrong? No. Ignorant, yes! It's the boy's poor misfortune to be born of such close minded parents. There is nothing he can do about it but try to live his life better than his parents have.

Very wrong, my parents, well my mum was great, my dad (after 10 years) is warming but has never been insultive to my partners but how could anyone just throw someone out based on their sexuality. Very wrong.

I feel deeply saddened, both for the boy and for the parents.
It's very upsetting to me when a parent puts their prejudices above the love of their child.
