We have never had nor do I believe we will ever have a president that makes decisions solely on polls. While polls are part of the equation for most, including the current whether they admit it or not, but never the only factor in making a decision.

You mean he doesn't. All politicians base the vote on public opinion. Very few have the backbone to make decision made on what is morally right and let the chips fall where they may. Only one lately that has backed up their decision have been Thompson and McCain. Al Gore, has been lying through his teeth so much it must hurt. He had eight years with Clinton to implant all these changes that he wants to do now. Blah, Blah, Blah.

Well I do want a president that listens to the people and seeks out and listens to wise counsel even when it might run contrary to what he believes should be done. This president has surrounded himself with ideological yes-men and run off anyone who turned out not to be. And he is apparently not beholden to to the 60% of the nation that disapprove of his decisions.

But then he took office with fewer votes than the other guy, so I guess he established his dismissal of polls on the will of the people pretty early.

Well...a true democracy means we all have a voice. If a President listened to the polls, then he is actually listening to the people. Ignoring the polls and the people's opinon is not too different than a dictatorship dressed up real pretty and called a different name...

It fair bit better than having one who consults a psychic on policy decisions.

I’d rather have that than a president that makes decisions based on which hole the intern wants the cigar in today...

We already had one...his name was Slick Willy, and now we have the wife-in-name-only Hillary who will want to do the EXACT same thing.
Unfortuantely, every last Dem saw the "success" of Bill's policy, so they are copying it to a T.
