I need to know a few things...
1.Where is the heater core on my car?
2. Why do I have a over flow hose (that has a steady leak) coming out of the bottom of (what looks like) my heater core unit on the fire wall of my engine bay?
3. Where is the the thermostat on my car?
4. And where is my water pump?

Mine you I have no money to take this car to a repair shop or rent a car...treat this as a do or die situation.

Our Bmw loses pressure sometime, and all the coolant runs out. We have to put the coolant in another hose, on the engine, instead of using the thing that you usually use, that has the overflow hose, cause it doesn't get to the motor.

The cheapest fix is to remove the heater hoses going to the heater core in the firewall.(this fix will give you no heat for the winter time) Reconnect them so the coolant flows through them and back to the engine. You can use a plastic pipe that fits snug in the hose or go to an auto parts store and buy a connector. The thermostat is located by tracing the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the top of your engine. There is a hosing that the hose slips over, under this housing you will find the thermostat. The water pump is located on the passenger side of the engine towards the front of the engine. This will also have a hose that pumps the coolant to the heater core. The core itsef is located under the passenger foot area of the dash inside your car.

good luck.....

If you are seeing a leak from the drain line for your heat, you probably have a heater core leak, but make sure that it is coolant leaking out. The drain is there because when your a/c is running, water from the air will condense on the evaporator and will fill the floorboard of your car if it has no where else to go.

well........there should be two heater (5/8th or 3/4 inch) hoses leading to the firewall on the passenger side. with no antifreeze in the sysytem you would want to disconnect both hoses, slice a small piece of hose off and go to auto part store and get a barbed connector to fit in both hoses, get two hose clamps connnect and voila...no leak........
however when it rains out you will never get your windshield defogged.

next the heater core should be in somewhere by the glovebox(passenger side) when is the last time you put gloves in there?
