The all time 3 would look like this:

1. Bill Russell - The man won more championships than any other player. He also did this in head to head competition with Wilt Chamberlin. Greatest defending, rebounding big man, and a proven winner. All his rings give him the nod for #1

2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - I know a lot of people would say Wilt Chamberlin because he scored 100 points in a game, but NO ONE has scored more points in their career than Kareem. Had the most ustoppable move in the hook shot, was a great player in college (won a ton of NCAA championships), and with the Bucks and the Lakers.

3. Shaquille O'Neal - While Chamberlin has the more impressive stats and records held, I would say that Shaquille's 6 championship appearances with 3 different teams, and 4 victories with 2 different teams (3 of these in a row) would have to take precendent. This was also done in the modern era, when there was a lot more parity in pro sports. Also, Shaquille was a better passing big man than Wilt, and in his youth could run the floor like a small man.

Many here seem to agree on my first two choices - Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The third selection on the list seems to be where we differ the most.

I'm going to say Hakeem Olajuwon. I saw him play in college some and the guy was completely dominant. Shaq is a physical freak, but I can't respect a guy that is that lousy a free-throw shooter. Plus, I'm not sure that in days past, when basketball WASN'T football, that he would have thrived as much as he does in this day and age.

Hey Mike F,

They would be:

Wilt Chamberlin: 100 point game, a bunch of rings, and some impressive stats- making him one of the greatest basketball players of all-time.

Bill Russell: Greatest defensive center and he has more championship rings than any other center.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar: All time leading scorer in NBA history and has won championships and MVPS at every level: High School, College, and NBA.

That's my thoughts:
