Depends on the type of paint you used, but you probably used acrylic paint or "enamel" paint in which case the paints are permanent already and don't need additional sealer.

If you used tempera paint, or watercolor paint, or anything else that's not permanent after drying or curing, you would need to seal it.

You dont have to but I always use a clear matt polyurathane on it. Or you can get that in a stain color. You can sand it lightly and put a second coat on it. It will keep it very nice.

you should be fine leaving it as it is, unless you want to put a finish on it.
