yes, each partner has their own thoughts, feeling, opinions, bodies and so forth. I don't think it is wrong when it is referring to a partnership or team that the two individuals are forming to work on certain goals-so together the partners are 1decision making team when it comes to finances or child rearing etc. It is up to each partner to keep their own identity. So they are 1 team or partnership, but 2 individuals.

I always say its the two of us.
Now, we have one "life" meaning that we share a household, bank account, children etc. But we are definitely two people.

one point of view is that they're like colored glass. when they overlap the become one color instead of two. I don't think that's likely though, even spiritually speaking. one or both of them would need to be a telepath or something.
