I remember reading some very cute books about a girl named Susie that was studying ballet. Some of the titles:

Susie and the Dancing Cat
Susie and the Ballet Family
On Your Toes, Susie!

The books author is Lee Wyndham. If you're interested in ballet I think you'll really like these books.

Good luck and happy reading! :-)

Some juvenile and teen fiction ballet titles that I've read and recommend:

To Dance: A Memoir by Siena Siegel (a graphic novel format memoir)
Dancing in Red Shoes Will Kill You by Dorian Cirrone
On Pointe by Lori Ann Grover
A Dance of Sisters by Tracey Porter

I second the "Susie" books! My mom had the "Susie and Ballet Family" one when she was young, and then passed it on to me. I found another one in a used book store once, but otherwise they can be hard to come by unless they've been reissued!

"To Dance: A Memoir" by Siena Siegel. I never thought I would be interested in reading about ballet, but I noticed this graphic novel at the library and I am glad I did. It was a very enjoyable read.

Any book by Noel Streatfield is fairly good. Ballet Shoes would be the obvious choice in this situation.

each and all of the books recommended with the help of fashionballerina are great. I additionally propose i became a Dancer with the help of Jacques D'Amboise (its a memoir approximately his guidance with Balanchine, ballet, and his existence as a dancer- very stable!!)

"Dancing on My Grave," Gelsey Kirkland, onetime principal dancer at American Ballet Theater, now with the company as coach.

"I, Maya Plisetskaya" written by the ballerina herself is pretty good. She wrote the story of her life. You'll probably find it too serious/boring if you are very young.
