Some grocery stores will, but only to sack and carry out groceries. The national working age starts at 16 and there are very strict rules about hiring anyone younger. Try creating your own business - organizing closets, scrapbooking for busy moms, babysitting (yuck!), rake in the cash and have a great summer!

This is your opportunity to do some serious net working. Drop off your resume everywhere and even if they only hire 16 year olds, ask if they keep resumes on file so you can be in consideration for next summer. You'll make an impression with your maturity and foresight. Try going into business for yourself. Look around at what services are needed in your neighbourhood: child care, lawn and yard care, pet walking and sitting, window cleaning for one storey buildings only - maybe the local stores could use your help keeping their shop fronts clean. What about extended family members? Would they pay you to cut their lawn and clean up the yard. What about applying for work at local day camps for younger kids. What are your interests? You and your friend could get a lot of ideas just by sitting down and brainstorming for 20 mins: during this time you write down EVERY IDEA, no matter how outrageous it may seem. Outrageous ideas often lead to workable ideas. Start with the ideas you get from the responders to this question. I love the tennis club suggestion. If you like horses and live near stables , try getting work there. Ditto for bikes, skate boards ice skating.... Good luck.

I think supermarkets like Market Basket do (as baggers and stockers). At least that is what a bagger and a cashier in Market basket said as I was on the checkout line.
