Why indeed? It's a bit worrying that your question implies that you own a snake, which you take out of it's vivarium regularly, and then don't keep an eye on it. Or you have a vivarium which it can easily escape from. Either way is a touch on the careless side, and quite irresponsible of you.
The reason it heads for under the floorboards is because that is one of the warmest places in a house; all the hot water/central heating pipes run under the floors and there is a gap there that traps heat from the house. However, most of the other things vital for a house run under the floor, such as gas pipes and electric wiring which could be fatal to the snake. Imagine if you have a mouse living under there; either it could have chewed part way through a wire leaving it exposed, or your snake could spot it, strike at it, miss and hit a wire.
Snakes are fantastic creatures, and make wonderful pets. It's good that you allow it out of it's tank, but please, keep an eye on it in future.

It has found a place that it likes, and heads there when it gets a chance. This is typical of snakes. People whose snakes escape usually know, after the first time, where to look for them. They always escape to the same spot.

because if you dont have a heat lamp in the tank they try to get out and look for warm place like pipe closet under boards under the sofa. if your heat lamp is to hot they will get out to if you dont have always fresh water they get out.if your snake is big in a small tank they will try to get out and take a long time to grow fast.note let your snake walk around the house for bout 4 hours so you can see wear is the place she like the most so if she get lose you find her fast.

Because snakes like warm dark places
or you could have mice and its found a way in to hunt then
Snakes are wild creatures that should be respected if you don't know enough about snakes you could get hurt if not worse a small child
Please learn about how to keep them safely or give it to someone who does

They are cold blooded and so always look for easily attained warmth. Do you have pipes under your floor boards?
