I just recently changed my major to Recreation and I was wondering if there's anyone out there with this major that can tell me about their experience? Do you have your degree and if so what do u do with it? I was thinking about working for hotel companies or hospitality...anyway anything u can tell me will be great!

This is a great major for anyone interested in travel and tourism. You could wind up in a great location. Be very pro-active and plan out your internships carefully. The better the experience and the contacts you build, the faster you will get ahead in the industry. Good Luck!

Well, my cousin got a Ph.D. in this and is now a professor.

Otherwise, you are right... working for the hospitality industry. Don't discount other possibilities. If you want to run a park district in a medium sized town, you'll need a Master's degree in this subject (no, seriously... a masters in recreation).

Population is aging... baby boomers have time on their hands... someone needs to run the operations of their country club and golf course. Actually an industry with some growth potential.

I was in classes alongside many recreation majors. Many of them ended up with jobs at state parks.
