the womb and the mom has to deliver them or do they pass during birth. I know it is kind of a morbid question but I never knew what it actually meant and didn't know if I was in the clear with my baby.

A stillborn baby dies during the pregnancy and is delivered having already died at some point prior.

A viable baby can die during delivery from complications, but would not be considered stillborn.

It's morbid but it's a fact of life and I don't blame you for wondering what the terminology means.

This happened to me. Stillborn means the baby passes away inside the womb and then has to be born. I found out my baby had no heartbeat and a few days later I went into labor and delivered her.

If the baby is alive after it's born, even for a short period of time, it is not a stillborn. Stillborn means that baby was not alive at the time of birth.

Hope this helps.

Stillborn means the baby dies before birth. What's really morbid to me is; they will not deliver the stillborn until the end of your pregnancy.
I knew a young woman who went through this. I felt so sorry for her. She was still pregnant, the baby was dead and they would not do anything until she reached the end of her pregnancy.
If it were to every happen to me; once they discovered the baby was dead - I would demand they remove it NOW!!! I just could not stand being pregnant with a dead baby inside of me.

Well, when you said it hurts you didn't say where it hurts. It's probably because he's so big and ready to come out - he only has limited space and at this point you are both struggling to move around. It's crowded in there and it usually does get uncomfortable around the time it's getting ready for him to be born. I wouldn't worry about it. Since you're just about ready to give birth this could be the first few signs that he's ready too. He's wiggling around to tell you he's ready - soon your water will break and he'll be moving around just as much. I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about. He's just big and ready for a bigger space. Good luck with everything though! Hope you have a healthy baby. MJP

It happens both ways. Sometimes they pass away while they are in the womb and sometimes they pass during birth. That doesn't mean that you are at risk. If you haven't had any problems and if the doctors don't seem to be concerned about anything, then I would relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :-)

My sister's friend had this happen, the baby died in the womb, but she still had to give birth to him, it was the saddest thing, and I was pregnant at the time and in the same hospital with complications, it was a very sad time

It can happen both ways. You're never in the clear...and will worry the rest of your life about the well being of your children. Relax now before it all begins!

When they are stillborn it means that when you deliver the baby it is dead.

usually the mom will have to go through delivery or have surgery--- as the baby is too big to just be reabsorbed and is too big to just pass by itself.
