It's the same problem that happens to your body when you get a fever. The body functions speed up -- heart rate increases, the body works harder to cool itself off and maintain a constant temperature, sweat causes the body to lose liquid faster and symptoms of dehydration begin to occur (one of which is drowsiness or sluggishness).

Because your lungs and heart have to work harder to cool you off. You breathe faster because your lungs need more oxygen to supply your blood with. Also, your body releases excess salts from you in the form of perspiration.

Also, you need to stay properly hydrated. Dehydration will cause you to tire more quickly.

the system your body uses to cool itself off takes a LOT of energy, so you have less to spare.
