The funniest scene in that movie was not the flatulence scene, although that was hilarious.
I love Slim Pickin's scene when he's telling what Clevon Little did to escape!
He says it with such amazement and surprise!
It like asking why did a hungry man steal some food?!
And his use of the 'n' word just made it more funny.
Why would someone you refer to in a derogatory way want to hit you in the head with a shovel?
One of the great movie scenes!
I'm glad it got made when it did. There's just too much "baggage" to add to the characters today. It wouldn't even be the same movie.

Blazing Saddles couldn't be made today. There's a reason you never see it on cable.

That is one of the funniest movies ever made, I think a good director would make a movie like that today but there are very few good directors out in Hollywood. Very little real imagination left, sad.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would shakedown Hollywood for money.. NAACP would have a march. Mel Brooks would be blacklisted. It would be Starbucks instead of Howard Johnson. And we would all have a good laugh again at this classic movie.

Wolfgang hit the nail on the proverbial head.

What would happen?

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would smell the money to be made from across the country and be on the first plane to hollywood to run their mouths and make a spectacle out of absolutely nothing.

again...

Half of the dialog contained the "N" word so the movie would only be 45 minutes long.

well since most of the movies humor is based on the...um... sheriff, the movie probably would be so controversial that they wouldn't even have made it. but it's still pretty funny!
