But the whole family uses just a gallon of milk in a week vs 12 to 15 gallons of gas each by adults in the family. The answer is called mass transportation. If there are two drivers then gas spent per week is 24 to 30 gallons vs 1 gallon of milk.

It's simple supply and demand... oil is in much higher demand worldwide and the U.S. is having to fight with booming economies such as China and India for it... just be glad that we don't pay European prices

I'm no tree hugger by any means but maybe this will finally make people realize how utterly dependent we are on oil and need to find alternatives and try to cut down our consumption considerably... I'm not saying this for the environments sake but for the sake of the american way of life

These comparisons are arbitrary. Prices are formed by what the market will bear. Gas costs as much as it does because we buy a lot of it, but the supply is low. Naturally you pay more for an item the rarer it becomes.

Supply and demand. Almost every household pumps milk into their kids. If our households substituted half that milk with water, demand would be down, supply would be up and price would drop. Plus there wouldn't be so many fat kids. Same thing for gas. If we all switched to e85 and drove a prius, gas prices would plummit. Screw that though, I enjoy my 9mpg, V8, gas guzzling SUV and Mustang.

i might say they are around comparable to you, yet you do no longer might desire to stop on the food market and %. up 14 gallons of milk at one time as you may desire to with gas and your gas guzzling motor vehicle don't get me incorrect I very own one too.

That shows you how much gas is still out there. It's not renewable, but there's a lot of it.

You know what I say, as long as we keep buyind SUV's and not demanding that our elected officials address the problem, I hope it goes up to over 6.00/gallon.

It doesn't effect me because I drive a company car and I have a company credit card for gas usage and that's the way most americans are today anyway, if it doesn't effect me F-ck em!

I think gas should be more expensive, but in all fairness...I don't need to buy but one gallon of milk per week.

They are two entirely different commodities.

P.S. How many gallons of milk do you drink in a typical day? Should we compare that to your gas consumption?
