Yes, most of the time. But if yours was not, I hope you examine the reasons. Some Dads can't be there as much as they would like to because of work, or other obligations. There are times when fathers are not there because they want the best for their children, and are doing all they can to support them.
If your Dad was not there by choice, I am sorry. You can make in life anyway, and do better than Dad did.

Yes and no. My Dad travelled a lot when I was growing up. When I went in the hospital, yes he was there for me. He was GREAT when I was little! Then when I hit my teens, I saw what kind of a jerk he really was and didn't forgive him for YEARS! Once I had kids, I finally let all that go, and I'm glad I did. He now has prostate and bone cancer so I don't know how long I have with him.

No, my dad left when I was 2. I saw him three times that I remember when I was a kid. he got remarried and had more kids. I moved West with my mother in 1974 and he never tried to contact me nor me him. He wrote us all off afterwards including my grandmother and my uncle. He died in 1984. It's all good though because not having him around taught me how to be a good father to be around for my kids.

No he was at work. But I never went without a meal. He didn't even graduate high school. He had to work twice as hard so we could be lower middle class. I have no hard feelings. On the contrary I have the utmost respect. He wanted to be there for me but sacrificed for our family.

Not really.. Had a horrible relationship growing up, we always fought but oh well it's in the past now and we have a decent relationship now, I actually work at his company. We don't really fight anymore but I am 20 years old so he doesn't have control of what I do.

Nope, neither was my mother. When my father did have custody he didn't take care of us, but are aunt did, and Godmother. So i'm thankful, and mabey it was a good thing they didn't take care of use because we can learn from what they did to us, it teach us to have more responsbility for our future familys.

yes, my father has alwas been there for me, even when i was a misguided teenager. and now, when we are struggling to get our feet on the ground with our new family, he is there for me more than ever. my parents were the best parents a kid could ask for and my dad taught me a lot of respect for a lot of things.
