2 H2O --> 2 H2 + O2

The 1/2 reactions are:
4H+ +4 e- --> 2 H2
The hydrogen is reduced.

2 O-2 --> O2 + 4 e-
The oxygen is oxidized.

This is only possible because you are adding energy to the system in the form of electicity.

There is no reactant, only the water molecule which dissociates.
