I'm 5'5, weigh 127lbs, and wear jean size 28, and my stats are 34C-26.5-36

I'm afraid of losing any more weight as I really DON'T WANT to lose my hips and my butt (and my breasts)...the last time I lost weight I ended up looking bony at 34-25-34.5 and my collarbones stuck out...so I want to keep my current size but I really need to tone up certain flabby areas, especially around my stomach.

Most of the women in my family and in my ethic group, have waist ratios of 0.7 and below (for eg. my elder sister was 32B-25-37 before she had her kids and my mom had similar measurements), and although my hips aren't flat by normal standards, compared to them, I am 'lacking' curves.

I want a more defined, curvy torso (minus the muffin top!!), and a smaller waist-line...like Shakira has.
Will bellydancing be the perfect work-out for me? Is there any thing else which would be good? other than lipo...haha....

Thnx in advance!

If you want to mimmick someone's body, you've got to do what they do. So, BELLYDANCE helps. Amazon.com has some AWESOME bellydance videos and a lot of classes are offered everywhere.

I do twists, leg lifts and the ROMAN CHAIR is your BEST friend. Go left for 12 reps, right for 12 reps, then go front to back bowing over the front of the equipment for 12 reps. Do twice per day and you'll be ripped.

Now THAT'S a good look.

I work as a personal trainer. Unfortunately, you cannot "spot reduce" meaning that you cannot pick and choose where you will lose weight and where you will keep weight. This has to do with genetics, something we have very little control over. Sit-ups and other ab exercises will not take away bodyfat around your waist. They are very beneficial, however, because they strengthen the muscles underneath, so when you do get rid of the body fat that is covering your abs, you should find that the abs underneath are more defined. The best way to get rid of bodyfat is through diet and cardiovascular exercise, like walking, running, biking, the ellitpical crosstrainer, etc. Typically it comes off easiest in the places on your body where you are less likely to gain weight which is probably why you felt you looked bony before. Your best bet is to do strength training (weights) to put on a little muscle. That should help to counteract that bony appearance.

I would consider checking out your local fitness centers for advice on any workouts that might slim ur waist. But other than that, the same 'ol stuff u do @ home (crunches, etc.) seemed 2 hav worked best for me along with those cheep videos that u can purchase for less than $10 @ Walmart.

You can do sit-ups that works on the midsection, and also you can place a stick/broom/mop, whatever across the shoulders, knees bent, and do some squats. Also some brisk walks/trot would help.
