There is a general consensus that Iraq needs a political solution, and that the Sunni and Shia's that have been killing each other for 1400 years cannot be stopped by American troops. So why are our troops STILL getting killed? I am all for fighting terrorists. But i also know that terrorists are in a lot of places other then Iraq that we are ignoring. The Sudan, Nigeria, Morocco, Indonesia, Iran, Myanmar, and even here in the states. Saddam is gone, and i cannot figure out why our troops have to die stuck in the middle of a civil war between 2 groups, instead of being here to defend America. We will never invade North Africa, or Indonesia. Getting killed on the sidelines of a bloof fued that has been going on since the inception of Islam seems like a waste of our hero's lives. How about we leave Iraq to its government, and figure out how to stop countries that actively sponser terrorism?

There won't be any solution there til the terrorists realize they can't make us leave by committing horrendous acts of mass murder on civilians, and cowardly IED attacks on our troops. When we start inflicting serious damage on them, then they may want to negotiate, but they won't as long as the dippschittes in our Congress continue to pursue a surrender policy on our part.

As best as I can tell many Americans are obsessed with winning, even though they don't have any idea what winning means anymore. Bush has shoveled that tired old rhetoric about "fighting them there so they don't come here" for so long I think even he believes it in spite of the fact his own intel says Bin Laden has the resources, desire and intent to strike America again.
GWB has muddied the waters so badly that the "sheep" among us are simply confused and gravitate to the one thing they do understand, they want America to "win".

Well, Patraeus also says that a political solution can only be reached after the military 'surge' has reduced violence sufficiently.
As we know this won't happen Patraeus will have to stop talking about a political solution or he will be summarily dismissed like all the generals before him who tried to speak truth to tyrranical power.

Because it's not the answer people want to hear.
(I love it when I hear the president say "WE have to make the sacrifice!"Meanwhile poor parents all over the United States are planning funerals for their sons and daughters who don't have the proper protection because the president refuses to tax the rich. This administration's callousness towards poor people literally makes me sick.
Can ANYBODY see the cruel humor in the presidents 'No Child Left Behind' program.
Grieving parents get it.

Just to answer your first question, Bush believes that in order to solve their political problem we must get military control in place.first. Those who disagree with him believe the politics must be solved first and then most of the fighting between the insurgents will cease. The second theory makes sense, Bush's theory is clearly not producing results.

For some reason, there is a great number of Americans that think shooting, fighting, killing, and warfare are more heroic ways of ending a conflict than talking is.

Human nature is to hear only what we WANT to hear. Those things we don't want to hear we tend to block. I believe at the end of Summer more and more Republicans will be opening their ears and hear the truth and not the Bushies' lies.

when it comes to Iraq, he listens to no one. He has an agenda in Iraq and no one is going to stop that.
