Honestly, even when I've answered a question where I didn't agree with the person, I've always been polite. Perhaps Americans are just terribly harsh? I'm Australian and wouldn't dream of saying some of the things to others that have been said to me.

I'm patting your back! Don't let the opinions of others get you down, after all it is their opinion. You know who and what you are so take it lightly.

Everyone has an opinion. Sometimes they're good, sometimes not. Some people are rude, some are polite. I have answered questions where I have bluntly given my opinion and others were very polite. It depends on the question. Some people are very passionate and therefore their answers reflect that.

If you don't like the advice you get, ignore it. I have been emailed by people who didn't like my answer to their question or someone else's. I have been told off and even told I am divorced, therefore don't know what I'm talking about. I am married, never divorced, and I am entitled to my own opinion.

It's your question, you get to decide if the answers are useful or not. =D

It really has nothing to do with Americans being harsh.. people are people American or not and some are mean and nasty some are polite and never see the need to lash out at all. I myself can be either of those depending on the day and my menstrual cycle. Just got to toughen up a bit and ignore the jerks or give them a piece of your own thoughts but with really mean words! Hee hee..

You have a right to expect a little common courtesy, but truth be told, in this arena it is quite unlikely, I hate to say. I have found that many people in this forum tend to forget how to be decent, respectful and courtious when answering questions. There is always a nice way to say even the harshed things, if one just takes a minute to explore other possible wordings.

Americans aren't the only ones that post here on YA. The internet, for many people, is an excuse to hide behind a computer screen while they get to say things they'd never say face to face. So, no, you probably can't post a question without getting rude remarks.

Some people are just verbally abusive and just plain not nice, don't take it personally. These are the ones who have nothing better to do than be rude because they can and have no real answers to offer then there of some of us that are sincere and are here to help. Don't judge the whole by the few. Sorry for your bad experiences.

When you post something on a message board you have to expect the truth of what people think about you on it. Not just the AMERICANS have posted mean things on these things. If you have issues with the answers then.. Dont ask the questions! Sometimes the truth will hurt but you have to be man enough to take it and blow it off!!!

You know that old saying.....one bad apple .....ok, well, there may be a few of those apples around here, but we're not all like that. Some of us are polite and respectful towards the other person seeking help. Hang in there. You'll see what I mean. Good luck!

I am sorry if you were called names, however; I find you offensive by stating it is Americans that are terribly harsh. I am sure if I looked I would find some Australians that were rude and harsh as well.

Its an open forum. I'm american and we tend to say, "If you can't handle the heat then stay out of the kitchen". Don't take things so personal. There are people out there who just answer questions without thinking and make statements without thinking either.

Its because people on the internet can say whatever they want without getting into any trouble. But people in person never say rude or mean things cuz they are afraid they will get socked in there heads. Just a bunch of sissys, ignore it.
