I recently responded to an email (reply all) that listed 4 friends as recipients. I then received a delivery notification that my response could not be delivered to a fifth address which I do not recognize. Is there someone monitoring my email or does anyone know the cause of this?

Nothing to worry about. Delivery failure notifications are sent back to the sender if and when the email recipient email address is not valid.

While delivery failure notifications are commonplace, having one extra address which is unrecognizable by you is uncommon. There are several causes for this:

1) The mail server hiccupped and added random junk which caused the delivery failure
2) Your e-mail is being routed through that e-mail address
3) One of your friend's e-mail addresses are being routed there.

Suggestion:
Do a search on the e-mail address and determine who or what company owns it. Also, see if it's a single occurrence or if it happens again.

Delivery notification will ocurr if the recipient has a limit with their email and it is full, as well.
Check your address book and ensure that address never existed.
It could also be a mail server error..if it ocurrs again, contact your mail server and tell them to fix it.

Delivery failure is shown because that email address doesnt exist.... nothing other than that

The main advantage is you get to read at least some of the replies and see who answered - after your question is removed for being in violation Happens to me a lot anyway
