A friend of mine is giving us her Eddie Bauer car seat to use when our son is born, but it only has one base. I was hoping to find out the company so I can purchase an extra base.

Eddie Bauer and Cosco are the same company. Some places sell them as Cosco and some as Eddie Bauer.

I have a Safety 1st system that is identical to the Eddie Bauer stuff (just different material and a higher price).
Here's the website... Eddie Bauer is along the top.

One of the things HIGHLY recommended is that you do not use a USED car seat!! Anyway, Eddie Bauer IS the company that manufactures the car seats, try their website.

I don't know which version you have (deluxe, designer 22, etc), but they sell additional bases on amazon.com and other sites. Just do an internet search and you'll turn up all the sites that carry them. Here's the link if yours is the designer 22 http://www.elitecarseats.com/Eddie-Bauer-Extra-Base-for-Designer-22.pro

Lap Babies SHOULD scare you. Even during turbulence a baby could easily be flung from your arms. Some flight attendants refer to lap babies as missiles. Giving the passenger count as '80pax 3 missiles' or whatever it is. I kid you not. Aside from being for the child's safety, they just do better in a seat on an airplane, good choice to use it! Look on your car seat's stickers. One of them should let you know whether it is FAA approved, if it says its FAA approved, it will work and they can not tell you you can't use it.
