The service I get is 4083kb/s down and 505kb/s up in Phoenix, AZ and watching streaming video is great...on my pc. On my laptop with a Pentium 3 processor and 128mb memory is choppy. You can only go as fast as your slowest connection.

Any of the standard high speed options (cable, DSl, etc) can handle streaming video. You would only need to go with a higher speed (and higher price) if you are going to be networking several PCs that want t stream (or Limewire) at the same time.

Most basic Cable or DSL internet packages work just fine for streaming media. As part of the package information, you should see two different numbers: and up- and a down-stream rating. For most DSL customers (and I assume cable as well), the downstream is some multiple faster than the upstream (mine happens to be 4x).

To put numbers to it: I wouldn't buy any less than 128kbps up, 768kbps down. I've seen packages as low as 384kbps down, but the more you get the faster it is....

Verizon vIOS is the fastest. Most expensive though. Anything Cable or above would be fine for streaming video, etc. DSL is ok too, but Cable is much better.
