Rod B- nice answer, but what do you say to those who come to America knowing they are ready to pop, just so their child can become a citizen, thereby granting them automatic rights to stay in the country?

Both of our current political parties are thinking how they can win the future Hispanic vote, which is expected to be huge. They know that current Americans, both black and white, are fed up with politics as usual, so they have to figure out a way to stay in power. They think the best way to do that is to pander to a constituency that doesn't know shiznit about our gov't.
Power to the people!

The two opposing sides of the political spectrum each have interests in "avoiding" the enforcement of the existing laws. The "far" left wants open borders and everyone here illegally to be full citizens asap. The "far" right is supported by big business and farmeres that want (even need) the labor force that has illegally come here from Mexico and South America. So the politicians of both sides are "set" in getting the INS and other federal agencies "off the back" of illegal immigrants.

Maybe because it is way out of date like a lot of our laws. Spitting on the sidewalk for one!

If the immigration patrols could have stopped people from entering our country illegally they did not do their jobs very good and so we have this huge problem.

Now that they have been living here in our country illegally for over ten years or so they should be allowed to continue to do so but when they are found they ship them back home. This is insane and wrong! Legalize the ones that are here. Stop anyone from entering without a valid visa and ship them home when it expires!

Unfortunately that is the case with a lot of laws in this country. We have them but fail to enforce them. It's almost seems as if they pass these laws to make it look like they're actually doing their jobs.

Because Ted Kennedy needs some one to clean his pool and bring him drinks.

And also to steer the car so he does not go off another bridge.
