i have a 9mos. old chihuahua and 3 cats. ive tried every dog food thatt they make and he only wants what the cats eat. is it bad 4 the dog to be on a car food diet?

He will eat other food if she has to. you give in, she gets what she wants. Dog food does contain different nutrients compared to cat food, it is formulated for dogs, you can try mixing it half and half to start with and see if she will eat it. Leave it out for 5 minutes, then if she snubs it, pick it up. Eventually he will get the message. Try feeding it to him every three hours and don't give in. If he has any sugar problems then give him a 1/2 tsp of nutrical, don't give in with the kitty food. No snacks, no table stuff, just dog food. If he wants to beg at the table hand him a piece of dog kibble. When he realizes that you are not giving him anything else, he will eat. May take a couple of days, but he will not starve himself. Honest. Put the kitty food up high so he can't help himself anymore, and make sure that he can't get in the catbox for some recycled leftovers, either....

Your puppy is only eating cat food, because cat food has a high fat concentration. And cat food isn't meant for dogs. Don't allow the cat food to be in reach of your puppy, and he wont have the urge to eat it. Try different kinds of puppy food to see what he likes best.

Yes it is bad. Catfood is made for cats - it will make your dog very fat, at the very least!
Your dog WILL eat dogfood if you perservere. He might sulk a fair bit at first but he won't starve himself. Get some yummy dogfood for him, wet and dry so he has a choice, and start feeding the cats somewhere where the dog CAN'T reach - like on a counter. Cut off his access to cat food altogether, and provide dogfood only. Very important for his health, and he will get over it,

cat food is not good for the dog, it is too high in fat and protein. there are however diets that are made for both dog/cats. they are a little more expensive but are likely available at your vets office.

yes cat food is called cat food for a reason.only let him or him eat dog food hell catch on :)

oooo not good, dogs arent sposed' to eat cat food but its very easy for them to get hooked on it, take you puppy to the vet and get him checked.
