Can someone please explain how to use gutters with CSS?

Gutters are usually the names applied to spaces between blocks. For example, go look at a loaded-up Google page with news items and all that (or a My Yahoo! page). Note that there's spaces between the columns of stuff. Those are called gutters. When the CSS is set up to define the columns (like say, the first column is 30% of the screen, and floated left, and the second column is 65%, and is floated right, then that leaves you a 5% "gutter" into which space, the final frontier may flow, for legibility.
