Think back in time to the late 70’s and early 80’s. What was the big environmental hype at that time? It was the hole in the Ozone layer. If you believe today’s environmentalists this is how they explained away the huge hole in their argument about why between the 40’s and the early 80’s, CO2 was increasing, but global temperatures were falling. Falling so much that at the time they were predicting the next Ice Age. They dismiss the obvious and documented connection between global temperature and solar activity in favour of this being a result of our use of CFC gasses and claim victory for preventing the next Ice Age.

So, here is the point. If the over use of CFC gasses was going to take us to the next Ice Age a mere 20 years ago and now they are banned we are heading for catastrophe over Global Warming. Surely the most effective way to prevent the Global Warming catastrophe in the short to medium term is to do a controlled release of CFC’s over a period of time back into the atmosphere to restore the balance. Not enough to damage the Ozone layer but just enough to halt any rise in global temperature and maintain current levels.

Personally I think it is all complete nonsense and they should take another look at the comparative data between solar activity, CO2 and global temperatures.

Just to clarify my own view is that all the Hype is just that, Hype. They were wrong in the 70's and 80's and they are wrong now as the science I have seen supports natural cycles.

Why would the "man made" global warming crowd say the debate is over? Because they want to push a carbon tax on us and control our life! Do you want the UN to tell you how to live?

There may be some truth in the assertion that higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere increase global temperatures since CO2 absorbes light in the thermal infared wavelength.

We have a unique situation at present in that CO2 levels are far higher than they usually are at the present global temperature. It is impossible to model the relationship between CO2 lebels and global temperature when they are in proportions that are unprecidented (at least in the last few million years.

Since we know very little of this relationship, we shouldn't be too confident about making ANY predictions about the future of global climate whether dire or not.

Let's remain open minded!

Global warming is a reallity, but as we are still coming out of an ice age, it is predictable the earth would warm up.

With regards to the hole in the ozone layer - it does close up and reopen every year, but the media do not tell the general public that do they?

They cannot stop the next ice age, as the earth warms up there will be increased precipitation and at higher levels it will result in increased snowfall.

I think that the earth naturally goes through cycles, cool then hot then cool and so on, and there is nothing we can do about it. I do believe that our pollution does have an effect on depleting the ozone layer, but I think that even if we didnt have a hole in the ozone layer, we would still have these cycles every couple of decades.

It's all a load of crap. As you say we had "THE HOLE" then we had "ACID RAIN" (never mentioned nowadays).
The latest con is to charge an extra tax on flying in order to save the planet. Brilliant, except that they are allowing all the major airports to build more runways.
You can fool some of the people all of the time!

I agree with the sentiments expressed - and have reluctantly "starred" it. The poster should be cautious, as he has not expressed his point as a proper question - and risks being cited for abuse and loosing 10 points. That would be sad, as he is clearly on the side of the angels.

I take it you have watched "The Great Global Warming Swindle" documentary on Channel 4...very interesting. So we get nice summers and beaches in the midlands...what's the problem?

Global warming is myth, promoted by that liberal nutcase (and fat porker hypocrite), Al Gore.

A natural warming exists, and that's what melted all of the ice ages, thankfully.

Gore needs to undergo a psychiatric exam for this, as well as his delusions about "inventing the Internet." If he's even determined to be competent enough, he should stand civil trial for his deceptions upon America and the world.

Global warming is a very dangerous fib. It can create a horrible distraction and jeopardize our national security, especially if a Democrat gets in who would focus upon such a lame and silly issue.

Global warming needs to be categorized with Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Sane people everywhere must resolve to disassociate themselves with this cause, and indeed stand against it.
