As stated I am 20 and not on any medication. I love junk food but if I eat it w/in a couple hours of going to sleep, I wake up nauseous and it goes away when I eat something like fruit. This is good b/c I really should eat healthier but seems weird. This started 6 months ago. On the surface I look healthy and in shape, 5'0 & 97 lbs, but my exercise is walking campus from class to class. About two years ago I developed very low tolerance for caffeine, after being a coffee addict. Also, junk food used to serve as meals pretty often but now my body requires more healthy foods to feel good. Could my sudden intolerance be telling me something other than I shouldn't eat junk food? I.e. I'm lacking a nutrient, I have low or high something...?

this same thing happened to me really soon after I turned 21!

it's weird!

I suddenly became very intolerant to caffiene, milk and other diary products, too much sugar, and meat. When I ate these foods, I would feel nauseous throughout the night and sometimes in the morning. Of course, it took me a year to figure out that it was ALL of these foods that I became sensitive to...

anyway, I saw a doctor off and on for a year, and they decided I had "IBS"- aka, irritable bowel syndrome. They prescribed something for my stomach aches and nausea but it just made it more irritated (some powder you mix in water). What I finally had to do was cut out all of the foods that irritated my stomach.

so, now im pretty much a vegan... much to everyones astonishment, because i loved hamburgers and ribs... but no longer!

Anyway, if it is just junk food, you have to cut it out of your diet or your stomach will keep feeling bad... It's tough at first, but it could be affecting your entire body's health... When i eat too much sugar or have too much soda, not only does it trigger nausea, but it also makes me feel tired, cranky, a bit anxious.

I think our bodies just change randomly sometimes and we become intolerant of things without any warning. I don't think it means you have bigger health issues to worry about, but if you continue eating foods that irritate your stomach, it could possibly lead to more health problems....

good luck!!!

Well, timing could have alot to do with it. Many people recommend not eating for a few hours before going to bed. You may have acid reflux, which shows up more when you lie down. You can put a wedge pillow under your mattress to elevate your head slightly, this will help with night time nausea. And your body might just be growing up, and your activity level and your brain development may require more healthy foods to fuel it. Try a multi vitamin daily, and enjoy the healthy foods. And check out fast food nation, junk food is not good for your health

I get that all the time if I eat junk food too late. Instead of junk food, eat something like a sweet-tasting fruit or even some pretzels.

I think junk food is like poison oak- your body can only absorb so much of it over time before is starts causing negative reactions. You've hit your limit :)

Also a few years ago your teenage metabolism probably burned the stuff off faster than you could chow down...

This might be a wake up call. I wonder how people ca eat junk food for so long and not crash. Your body tells you something. Listen to it.
