I would stay away from Dell. HP laptops are very well made they do a HP Pavillion DV2224ea I think it is. This is vewry good value for money. Also if he wants to he can upgrade the memory to 2GB Ram depending on if he needs to run multiple demanding programs. Either way this laptop has a good Core Duo processor with 1GB ram, adequate graphics card and it is also a 14.1inch screen which is the perfect compromise between mobility and useability. As many find 15.1inch screens far too big to carry around with them, and 12.1 inch screens too small to use.
Hope this helps!
Have used HP for a long time now, excellent build quality, will last long, and excellent service. Would strongly recommend.

Laptops are really easy to use, there's not a lot of things that need setup. You just turn it on and configure the internet connection and that's about it. You can also configure the laptop to your liking. If you want a good laptop, stay away from Acer. I would recommend HP or Toshiba. Both brands are reliable and have a good track record. For normal everyday use HP will be fine, but if you want something that can do more try Toshiba http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/laptops.to?coid=-26368 . There's nothing wrong with Vista, it's a great OS for laptop. Since your husband will be in training he will need the latest technology on his laptop and that mean Vista. You also make sure that the laptop is loaded with Vista Premium instead of the Basic version. The basic version is lacking other features found in the premium version.

I can recommend the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V series, either the V3505 or V3515 - these are 15.4" widescreen laptops with decent specs and excellent build quality at very reasonable prices designed with the business user in mind - although Vista Home Premium models are available, cheaper models with XP Pro or XP Home can be still picked up. The V3405 has a 14.1" screen; the V3205 has a 12" screen.

Well all laptops should be the same since theyr all vista now. Only differences between computers are how well they perform.
Get a laptop with a good processor, preferbly duo core. Good ram so it runs fast with multiple things running at the same time erm, get 2GB ram. At least 100 Gig harddrive for storing things like documents and music and pictures etc. Wireless built in, since its a laptop. Decent graphics card. Fast CD drive if he would ever want to play on gaes lol. Get sumthing like 48x.
hope i helped ^_^
