I have a notorious Epson that leaves up to 38% of usable ink in the cartridge and then it will not let you print anymore.

Is there anyway to reset the thing and make it work? I have a CX4200 all-in-one.

I am aware of the manufacturere's warning that running it out can damage the print head.

Thanks

Dude, abcink has an Epson chip resetter that resets your ink level on the chip to 100%. I have one and it works like a charm. Here is link:

Also found one at alotofthings.com. Here's link:

Ive bought from abc all the time but never from lotofthings (which is cheaper though BEFORE shipping.) Also try highly rated supermediastore.com and meritline.com. There are a MILLION spots out there including Ebay. Just run a search on "Epson chip reset"

One word of caution though. Major heat goes through your printer printheads as you print. Its NOT a good idea having that heat pass through your printhead with no ink inside. Think of a car running on NO oil. (So yeah- you can bypass the circuit thats cuts the cars engine when the oil is low. The car may run but you will eventually kill it). If you ever do decide to squeeze every last drop of ink from your cartridge then make sure you stop printing the VERY SECOND you notice that one of your colors is fading. Truthfully I dont think its that great of an idea when you consider how cheap you can get COMPATIBLE cartridges for. The websites Ive mentioned sell Epson carts in the $3 and under range.

Another thing to consider. Everytime you change the ink (or restart your printer) on your printer, Epson decides to run a cleaning or charge cycle on ALL your ink which sucks up about 6% of ink on ALL your carts. So by changing ONE cart you lose 6% of ink in all the others (In other words you lose like 3x6= 18% of ink since you have 3 other carts). So I always try to change all carts that are below 10% at the same time. If you leave a cart thats 10% full and change a different cart, then that 10% cart will only have 4% ink after you hnage the other cart. Sucks, but thats how Epson is- they make more money off ink refills than off the printer itself.

Any questions/comments then you can email me.

Hi. There are chip reseters available, but really they should only be used after a refill. One example: http://123refills.net/cic/product.php?id=ink-epson-resetter&ref=ADWepschipres&gclid=CNeZy6vhqYwCFQJUZQod1wL_RA
