I attended my daughter's high school graduation this week and heard lots of advice being offered. The best I've ever received is: Always listen to your heart.

Think for yourself.
Listen politely
Discard what doesn't make sense and rings untrue.
Always be positive and always think you can.
Do your very best everyday and don't apologize for trying and failing.
Always get up and try harder. You might be surprised at what you do accomplish.
Keep your promises.
Be kind and be loving.
Love your family unconditionally.
Remember to have fun and find joy in everything. You only get to experience it once.
My dad posted it in our house growing up.

You would not BELIEVE the incredible burden that was lifted from my heart when I started to FOLLOW this advice! Definitely some of the best advice I've ever received!

Go back to work as soon as possible, after the death of a close family member. Better to think outwards, to do the job and be with people than it is to sit home alone.

Think EVERYTHING through
Think before you speak (which goes hand in hand with..)
Never say anything that you have to apologize for.. mean what you say. When all is lost.. you will still have your word.
