Obviously they are proud, or they would stop answering so many questions. They must have sore fingers from all that typing.
Some of the top contributors leave really great answers all the time, but I'm always surprised by how often I see "top contributors" leaving non-answers like, "This question makes no sense. What are you talking about?" or "You are stupid if you think that".
If they don't have an answer for the question, why do they post anything? Seriously, just move along to the next question. You don't need the two points *that* badly.

It would appear there are a lot of pretty smart and interesting people using this site, but as I only joined two days ago 'cos I wanted to ask a question (and need to improve my touch typing ) what the hell do I know!
What has struck me as odd is the amount of people who appear to be soliciting for points IE. one guy asked a dumb & inflamatory question (in religion) then retorted with - yeah that was a bit dumb (I'm paraphrasing!) but could some one star me as I've got an 87% rating.
Another guy purporting to be a prof. @ Princeton told a depressed kid to see a shrink and pick him as best answer!
I've enjoyed this site so far - but it sure has reinforced my belief that "there are more things ....." etc. (am bad with quotes - that was the shakespeare thingamy)
Any hoo, hello to all the brain boxes out there - be kind if you see any dumb questions from me - I'm full of them - thats why I love the internet!

Proud? Not really. I just logged on one day and there it was under my little avatar "top contributor" I thought, OMG, have I been on Y!A that much?!?! A bit embarassing, yes!
But, if you ever become one, you will see for yourself what it feels like ;D
my concern is with the top contributors who have that title not bc they offer good advice or answers, but bc they just answer a bunch of questions without thinking for the sole purpose of gaining levels etc..

I hope I would be top contributor one day. But again, the more you contribute, the percentage of best answers has a risk of plunging down, and being Top Contributor would be difficult to achieve and maintain.
So, yeah. I prefer my life as it is.

~~~ I'm sure it's a mistake, but as long as it's still under my name I'll gloat and pretend I'm some kind of hotshot. And yes, it's embarrassing because I'm sure by now everybody here knows I'm not. hehe! Yeah, I WAS addicted to YA until my Avtar flipped out and keeps changing sexes on me. Now that's embarrassing.! ~~~
