The Royal Sunni Monarchy King Faud. I am at a loss for the proper spelling, but this family controls a large majority of the world's oil supplies because of it's oil and refineries. Several countries are oil rich but they do not have the refineries to distribute the product on a global basis, a good example would be Iraq.
Sam Walton, Walmart Stores, he continues to make 1 stop shopping a phenomena in all retail markets in this country and WalMart is establishing itself globally, last I heard, China.
I think the last person is worth your consideration and that would be King Abdullah of Jordan. Jordan is no larger than the State of Wyoming or Montana. This country is in the Mideast, pro-western, it has a U.S. base in the country, but if you notice, Jordan has avoided war for years. His wife is American born Princess Rainia. It is simply remarkable that his Father and the current King are from the biblical Hashmite Tribe, which is a ruling class and continues to rule with finesse, despite the volatility of the region.
The last would be Michael Jordan. If you are talking about the last decade, that would be 1997-2007 the tale end of the Jordan era. Michael Jordan continues to market Nike shoes and clothes, his iconic emblem "Jumpman" is on clothes, shoes, the boxing ring in championship fights, the Jordan brand is in the New York Stock Exchange and the "Jumpman" statue remains in front of the Chicago Bulls Arena in Chicago, Illinois. "MJ." "I want to be like Mike" the term Jordanesque, the book "Jordans Rules", "For the Love of the Game" and the one gold earing is an enduring image that speaks to his global influence. The name Michael Jordan and MJ is now a trademark brand name.

Who is the greatest leader today? I can not think of any one that is alive today. At one time we could list our president, but not any more. Our current president has alienate most of the world, so...The last great leader that I can think of is the late Pope John Paul. What I am basing being a great leader is the impact that they have on the world in general.
