I don't want to do this if it messes up my NEW laptop.

i have a surge protector that came with my gateway desktop,,,but i dont know the wattage/voltage, and all that high techie stuff,,,how do i know FOR SURE that it wont harm my precious laptop? and would people quit saying thats sad!? I HATE camping, so i have to have soething to keep me busy, and not bitchy. :)

I know nothing about generators,,, its not even mine, it's my grandpa's generator. It's fairly new,,, not SUPER NEW, but NEWER,,, I don't think he has the book to it either,,, if i knew the model/brand I could look it up on the net,,, but I don't know any of that kinda stuff...

sure you can.
the ac adapter of the laptop will cushion surges.
You can get a laptop surge protector to be on the safe side.
You could also charge the battery from the generator and run it off the batteries if you are concerned.
Laptop are made to run off of varying portable situations and have wide variences.
That is at least the older real ones
Not the cheaper ones made for idiot women to place on a desk , plug into an ac adapter and never move - all cause "they are so cute"

Hi. Most good generators have a 'power conditioner' that smooths the electricity, but not all do. Make sure your generator is rated for computers.

like the poster bellow me said, the wall apadter is also a safety, but then ofcourse some of those are expensive. you don't have to buy and extremely expensive surge prtector, even a ten dollar one will work.
