They are trying to find out your problem solving abilities and how you deal with a challenge. Tell them about a situation where you come out looking like a super hero that saved the day. It doesn't even have to be something major, they just want to know if you handled the situation, efficiently and in a calm and intelligent manner, like you will when you are working for them. I got all the people together and gave them five minutes to state their position, without comments from other people. I asked them to describe what would we see if things were going their way, not just an end product, but the process of going about getting there. Then I said that not everyone gets what they want all the time. We have to compromise and cooperate with one another. Everyone must feel like they own the process and the solution otherwise problems will continue, and problems don't do anyone any good. No one gets what they want. If we cooperate everyone gets what they want. Usually there are parts of everyone's position everyone can agree on. Let's find what they are and go from there.

When I worked at as a Customer Service Rep, there was this phone call from a older gentleman. He had recently lost his wife recently and was calling to donate her items to our company. He was very angry with me and began to shout at me with foul verbal language, on the phone. I delt with it by not taking it personal, listening and successfully completeing the call for his pick up.
