They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Unfortunately we never see ourselves how we want to be perceived by others.
If you look at a photo, you see what you want to see, but not what others see. Take some of your photos and show them to friends, family, etc and don't make a statement about what you think until after they have made their comment. Don't say "I don't look good in these photos, what do you think?", this will subliminally give them an answer before they see the photos. Say something like "Can I get your opinion on this recent photoshoot of me?". Be ready to accept what they say with a professional attitude, don't critisize the critic, but use what they say to help mold your career. Additionally if someone has no positive aspects about any photo of you, after looking at different shoots, find another opinion. There are always people who will find the negative in all aspects of a shoot, as they are not in it (jealousy), don't let a consistant negative attitude from one party influence you decisions. Seek the opinion of anyone willing to give it, even if it's a complete stranger.
Posting photos online, your own website, is an excellent way to get critisim from others. It also shows agencies a good portfolio, as you can pick your best shots based on critisim, and add them to your printed portfolio for agencies.
Regarding your face/body type. Agencies look for all types of people. Don't think you are not attractive, this will show in interviews and may prevent you from getting the job. Think positive, have a positive attitude, if someone asks an opinion on a photo during an interview, always bring out the positive aspects "the sunset that day, and the reflection on the water, brought out my highlights"....etc
After your surgery, have a new shoot done and start submitting the photos to agencies, real ones. Don't fall prey to agencies that charge you for your own work, or to find you work. A good agency knows talent, and doesn't need to make upfront money from candidates, they know what the industry wants and usually make money from the finders fee or commission from your contract.

Photos tend to distort or wash out some of your best features - it has nothing to do with your thin-ness. Most models look really bony up close, but great in pictures. Make-up, done the right way for a photo, is your best friend. The kind of makeup that looks good in a photo will tend to look weird in real life, so keep that in mind. You will want to really strongly emphasize your best features - blush on cheekbones, eyeliner, big eyelashes, defined lips, and conceal any flaws - spots, dark circles under eyes. The nose job is good if you have nasal problems, but what you see as an "ugly" nose may just be one of the features that makes your face different and better than other faces. Many very beautiful women have very distinct features, like a different nose, gapped teeth, a mole, or unusually large lips. Your differences don't necessarily make you less attractive. Also, we all tend to think we look bad in pictures, because we're not used to seeing our own faces frozen.

I haven't seen you, but personally I don't think a nose job is necessery, I'm not really sure if it's the nose that makes the picture. I would rather say it's the eyes that makes the picture. Like the body can change a lot, but it's harder with your gaze. Focus on that - more. But still it's up to you.
The best pictures are taken by honesty. When you feel good inside, you look good.
Light colors makes you look less thin, dark colours the opposite.
Try different of angles, play with the camera and find the right angles for you.

I had a nose job also. It helped, but at the same time I look back at pictures before and I can't tell much of a difference. I just took most pictures at a different angle. A thin face sometimes can make your nose look larger. I've had thin and thick. It looked much better with some fullness. You have to also be comfortable with the camera and I am not so sure you are. I would also have my teeth whitened if you haven't-that makes a noticable difference. I just took alot of the techiniques I learned from people that professionally take pictures. I am comfortable with the camera, so most of the time when I am with someone I always lean over towards their face, or if you talk to someone who knows they can tell you alot of things to help. Someone said don't smile too big, if it's a true smile honey and you have great teeth then do it. It always looks good to see a great smile-not a fake one and you can tell when people are faking it. Learn to be happy with you more than anything else in this world and you will notice that your pictures will improve I gaurantee it. I've seen ugly people with beautiful smiles look absolutley terrific-and they were comfortable with their self. I believe you are not and that is your problem right there. Prayerfully the nose job will help. I have liked mine better since I had it, and I have more confidence now than ever, but I was confident before too. So Good Luck, it's all in you Child-all in you!

You May Look Ugly On Picture But It Really Deppends On The Backround. If It's Light You Get Every Single Zit Or Mark That Is On Your Face. When The Backround Is Medium Dark Like Grass Or Bush You Get Normal Picture. If It's Really Dark Your Eyes Make Your Face Look Ugly.

JUST to look better on paper!
Secondly, it's not about the physical aspect of the body (if you say you like yourself in reality that is) but the expression on the face. It has to be a right thought at the moment on the picture in order for it to show up on camera.
Thirdly, best pictures are taken when you are not posing. However, I had some awesome pictures taken of me when I was aware of it but was really content, happy, calm at the moment, or was feeling sensual.
Basically, what's inside shows on the outside. Try not to hold the facial for a long time, but rather do it at the last second before the flash goes off. And blot your face from oil so you don't look shiny like I often do! :

Firstly, let me tell you, I can relate. I am absolutely not photogenic at all. My sister on the otherhand, looks amazing in every picture.
I asked her why, I mean, we both look practically identical, so why does she look better. Her answer works so well.
When someone takes a picture, have someone next to your, or behind the photographer, start talking to you. I know it sounds like something your parents did when you were little, but thats why we look so cute. Our smiles come naturally that way. It really works, and my pictures really improved.
One more tip, do not look directly at the camera, look at the photographer, that also adds to the natural look of your face (and you don't get red eye).
Good luck!

No no no! First of all I certainly hope you're not getting plastic surgery JUST to look better on paper!

I used to feel terrible when someone takes my picture. I was too self-conscious! The more I am concerned with how I look, the worse it appears to be for me.
Then I looked at the mirror and practised smiling different ways and realized that if I smiled too much, I am all teethy and don't look good. So, I practiced just a little smile, not too little to be unnoticed in a picture and not to look fake. I finally found the trick. When I pose for a picture now, I try to relax and think of something nice and smile naturally. It turns out good. Don't be stiff in your pose, try relaxing, put a hand on something, relax your hand on a chair for example, cross your legs, turn your head a little to the side etc. Have someone take pictures of you, someone patient who will let you position yourself and be ready before he/she takes the picture.Have many pictures taken and see which ones look good and remember those poses and those smiles. Try it out. I wish you success.

I have a very thin face too, on me lthat seems to make me look unattractive in pictures. Any picture I pose for seems to turn out awful, but if it is a candid shot it looks fine. Maybe try to have someone take a lot of candid shots of you, just being yourself and when you don't think anyone will take a picture.
Since I have a thin face, it took me a lot of hairstyles to try to flatter my face. Make sure that your hairstyle flatters your face shape.
Another thing I have tried is when I do pose for pictures.. is to imagine that my face is really fat and it sounds crazy, but the pictures turn out a little better!
