I just can't put our Presidents in some mechanical, value-judgement order without giving them some kudos. It's not easy being the leaders of the Free World of billions of people who look to our Presidents for hope and guidance.

All of our presidents have done commedable work. I feel their terms of office have been like the great works of Rembrandt or a great invention of Thomas Edison. Through the ongoing progress of their "works" we continue to benefit and continue to be the freest and most powerful nation on earth.

They have accomplished far more to the good, than bad---far more than any leader in the history of the world; they save millions of people both in the short and long term. And the minimal "bad" you can pretty much chaulk up to the fact that no one is perfect.

Having said that, I've been here for many presidents beginning with John F. Kennedy. I'll place in order of best to "slightly less best" :

Ronald Reagan (the best) Just did his job so well and therefore received a lot of respect from the world and Americans. Now that's what I call a "support system"! It wasn't "walking on water" but close.

John F. Kennedy (The democrat's "Ronald Reagan")

(Robert Kennedy and John Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King): would have done major good for Women's liberation and for African Americans and many other groups in America and the world. I feel that these men may have been considered the best at this in the history of society going back to the founding of Democracy in Greece.

Richard Nixon. (Stopped the war in Viet Namm. Not a bad thing to be remembered by.)

Gerald Ford (Healed the nation after Watergate--a monumental task completed.)

George Bush Sr. (Used patient and cautious diplomacy in foreign affairs, and drew the respect of the much of the world for that. All around, a good president, with great common sense.)

George Bush Jr. (He tries to do a lot at once and things tend to get locked up in the House and Senate. But he stands up as a leader of a nation like no other I have ever known, and is not affraid to do what must be done.)

Bill Clinton (Left office with a budget surplus. How'd you like to put that on your resume?!)

Jimmy Carter (Has a big heart but I think it lead him to make decisions where one may often need just plain, hard, cold facts.)

Lyndon Johnson (He seemed biased with staunch southern ways, as though America became a larger form of his home state Texas.

He kept his six-shooters shooting: he did keep the bombs falling in Viet Namm. However, he was apointed after John F. Kennedy's assassination and so he simply may not have been fully prepared. He had no "southern" friends in Office.

What he did do is establish National Health Care programs, Housing for the needy, aid for elementary and secondary schooling. As a result, millions of people received assistance or had their lives directly saved..

It's hard to say. Usually many people don't judge a president until after his term is over, records are unsealed, and the long term effects of his policies are seen. I will say that GW Bush is probably the least popular president during my lifetime though. But I wasn't alive during Carter, and I have heard some rough things about his presidency.

I'd have to go with Ronnie Reagan as best. Even though I voted for George W, I now think he's probably the dimmest bulb ever in the White House since I've been around, and I was born when Eisenhower was president. However, I still think Jimmie Carter was probably the most ineffective president we ever had. Not that he didn't try, he was just overwhelmed by the job.

Best - Franklin Delano Roosevelt - Pulled us out of a Depression and defeated the Japanese and Nazis by playing hardball - ignored the Geneva Convention, controlled the liberal media, and profiled US citizens of Japanese descent.

Worst - Jimmy Carter - first act as president was to pardon the draft dodgers while disrespecting those who fought and died in Vietnam. Sat on his butt while US Embassy employees rotted in Iranian prison for 444 days until Reagan was inaugurated. Was instrumental in removal of Shah of Iran (a US Ally) and did nothing to prevent the rise to power of the Ayatollas. The Ayatollas declared the US the Great Satan and we have paid for Jimmy Carter F***up ever since culminating in 9/11. Carter was sent by Clinton to North Korea to have them adhere to the nuclear nonproliferation act and returned to Clinton saying meeting w/Korea a success. Stupid and naive Carter of course lied to which is why Korea today has nukes. Carter tied w/Nixon as having lowest approval rating -21%

Best: Dwight D. Eisenhower
Worst: George W. Bush

I reckon that makes me the oldest one here.

I doubt Vincent and John W were around when FDR was president (not too many 80-somethings post here), and I know Shortbus43 wasn't alive when Teddy Roosevelt was commander in chief.

Best: Ronald Reagan without a doubt or any hesitancy. The man was genuine and cared about people like no other.

Worst: Jimmy Carter. Failed economic policies, Failed Foreign Policy, just didn't get things right no matter what he did. He was timid and afraid.
