Where can i find a internet gaming event in north carolina for this memorial weekend?

i wanna take my my boyfriend to a gaming convention, muesum, expo..... something. he's wanting to design games when he gets outta the marine corps. i wanted to do something special fpr him this weekend but i dont know anything about video or computer games. all the help i can get i would be very grateful!!!! please!!!!
