Absolutely! I am usually depressed (and cranky sometimes) for a week to two weeks before and the week of my period. And everything makes me cry, like some one said, even TV commercials...

I like to think that dark chocolate helps (like at least 70% cacao) - but that may just be my wishful thinking. :) But don't eat too much - try to limit it to a small piece or two a day.

Probably the last thing any of us want to do esp. if you have cramps, headache, backache, etc. but excercise really does help - just go for a walk. It's very hard, but can help ease those physical symptoms too.

I think that the pill, esp. Yaz, can help for some people.

I have heard of some people taking an herbal supplement called Evening Primrose and it helped them emotionally during that time. (It doesn't interefere with the Pill, either, like St. John's Wort). I've also heard Black Cohosh too.

I've read that calcium, vitamin B6, vitamin E, and magnesium are all good supplements to take - but I haven't really tried that, myself.

Of course, eating and sleeping well are good advice too... but are probably the hardest to do too during that time. Drink lots of water, limit caffeine and alcohol.

Good luck!

Yes, such mood swings and even depression can occur during that time of the month. It's especially likely if your family is prone to PMS (like mine).

There are a number of herbal teas and suppliments that are said to be useful in controlling such things. You should be able to find them in your local grocery or health food store.

In the meanwhile, take care of yourself, and make a concious effort to remain calm and not to lose it. That will be easier on yourself and the people around you.

Good luck, and feel better.

Ye i get very weepy. The only thing I find to help is to actually let it out and cry and to excercise.

Oh, absolutely.
Take Dong Quai and Vitex at the very first sign that you're getting moody of any kind. Take it for a few days is all.
You will notice a big improvement.

You can get them at the drugstore in the herbal section.

Oh yes......and there ain't nothing I can do about it.

If I haven't fixed it after all these years it will have to stay broken.
