I would try and compromise with your mom. Ask her if you can wear one or the other. It sounds like you are pretty young and may no wear any make up as of now. I think you might want to start of with a little bit of blush, maybe a clear or brown mascara, and some lip gloss. Your mom will eventually come around in time, don't worry!

Maybe you should ease your Mom into the idea of you wearing makeup, by starting with just a little bit and having her help you put it on.
Young teenage eyes are beautiful and may not need eyeliner at all, but if you want it, make sure you're wearing a color that flatters your natural eye color. My eyes are green, for example, and the best liner for me is a deep purple. If your eyes are dark you will need a different color than if they are light. A professional can help you find the best color for your eyes. Ask your Mom for help.
As some of the above said, bacteria can be transferred on mascara wands and give you an eye infection, which is not pretty at all. So use your own. Again, you want something flattering for your complexion... if you're fair you may want a dark brown instead of a black.
I think lip gloss is also appropriate makeup for middle school age and up. In fact it's the type of makeup that makes the most noticable difference.
I would not recommend powder or foundation for teenagers, it collects grease and can clog your pores and give you horrible breakouts (even cover-up can make it worse!). Eye and lip makeup is best at this age, and keeping your skin clean. Using the right colors will keep you from looking unnatural.

We don't share mascara because of bacteria - if your friends have any type of infection, it would get onto the wand and then into your eyelashes and eye.
If your mom is concerned, see if she will take you to the mall and have a little make over from a makeup counter. This way, she can see that you learn to properly apply everything to bring out your best features and you get to experiment with more makeup. This has been a tradition in my family among all my female relatives, usually happening when girls are 13.
And high quality makeup does not ruin skin at all - just be sure to completely wash it all off before bed each night.

i was just like you at that age, wanted to try on make up and do all that fun stuff...im 21 and still do, most of the answer's ppl have given you are right, lip gloss def. your mom should let you, not a big change but noticeable, and maybe some light colored eye Shadow...ease the idea into her head..make up is expensive so tell ur mom just start out slow..Ask ur mom how to put on eye shadow, let her do it for u, she will like that..

sharing mascara can cause an eye infection. the wands in them hold germs and bacteria, you are most likely too young for make up and you dont need it it ruins your skin

just ask her... or ask your grandma.. or buy it yourself...
you cant share because it spreads a lot of germs that can cause eye infections...
be careful with makeup... never let anyone .even your mom. use yours!!
