There really isn't a need for additional games and it drags the season into other sports not to mention it conflicts with a school's schedule.

Based on right now? NO, too much money in NOT using a playoff. In the Future, as in EVER, it is possible. Thing is it would have to be a REAL THREAT by Corporate Sponsors to get it. They would all have to get together and say we are pulling the money IF you don't switch to a playoff system. THEN when it DOESN'T happen, and trust me the NCAA wouldn't do it the first year, the corporations would have to pull the money. When the NCAA sees what it has and that no one will pay them then, and only then, they would would switch. Chances of this are slim to none and slim has a foot out the door.

I hope not, and a few months ago that would have been a shock for me to say.
What makes College Football so exciting is that every game they play is like a playoff game. Chances are, you lose and you’re done.
The pros aren’t as exciting because its ok if you lose a game or 7 games, chances are you’re still going to make it to the playoffs. Moreover, if you’re in the NFC you can lose 9 games and still get in.
However, they have to come up with a better system for ranking these teams, i.e. don’t rank the teams until at least week 6, and send the weaker teams to Div. 2.

Lets do the math. there are over 30 bowl games. That means more than 60 teams in a post season game.
A play off would include 16 teams? 32 teams? Not enough coverage for the teams that are playing in the rinky dinky bowls now to watch in a playoff system.

Hopefully sooner than later. Until we get a playoff system we will have to deal with the BCS BS for awhile. As the years go by and more and more teams get the old screw job from the BCS there are more coaches and AD's that are jumping on the playoff bandwagon.

No, the BSC system makes them too much money. I also think that the NCAA enjoys the debate over who should be number 1 and who should play in which bowl game. It keeps people talking about the sport and makes the games more meaningful.

They should, then we would truley have a national champion. The could just take the top 10 or 16 teams and have a playoff

Not as long as the universities have to use Football and Basketball to pay for the effects of Title IX. Women's sports exist because of money raised by the football team. Get rid of title IX and watch ticket prices go down and a playoff system arrive.

This twelve months, working example, you in basic terms could desire to look on the controversy around the Kansas over Mizzou p.c... to no longer point out that Illinois (My alma mater) does not have made it into the rose bowl on reward on my own. i could like an 8 team playoff device, making the BCS bowls into the 1st around. this will additionally enable us to maintain the myriad of alternative bowl video games that are presently available.
