Hello, on my home computer I am experiencing a few wierd symptoms. I cannot connect to yahoo messenger, or any kind of patch server, for my antivirus or my online games ect, none of those will connect. I have done so much as to open my computer up as DMZ to try to avoid any kind of firewall/router problem but still nothing. Im sure its a virus or something blocking this transfer, but again im a newb, so my question is this

is it a virus? or anything you have heard of before?

Tyvm!

Ok a little more info, I guess some patch Microsoft released Tuesday might have something to do with it.

Have you given any thought to calling your "ISP", (Internet Service Provider), to see if they are having a problem with their servers.

I would think this would be your very first step, before you worry about a virus, that I don't think is the problem.

There are a lot of things that could be keeping you from getting on the net.

Spyware sometimes like to change your browser settings so that you use one of their proxies. Check your settings in Internet Explorer to make sure they didn't pull that one.

Make sure to completely disable any firewall on the machine. Try another computer connected to the same network cable to make sure there isn't something wrong with your network.

Make sure the network card isn't disabled. If it's wireless, make sure you are connected to YOUR network, not just any network, ie a neighbor.

Depending on what you find out from above, you may need to install and run Spybot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware, and something like AVG Free to get rid of all the spyware / viruses that you could have. Good luck.

This sounds like a typical Trojan issue. This is somethng that is beyond what regular anti-virus is able to handle.
You need to run these following tools to get rid of the problem:
1. Install and run "Spybot Search & Destroy"
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

2. If spybot finds any variants of "Smitfraud" (the pain in the neck to remove) use the Smitfraud Fix utility
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/resources/link243.html

3. Install and run "A-squared" (2.1 free) utility that you can download from this location

4. The last suggestion is to install and run "ccleaner" to get rid of registrey issues
