no. then they'll follow us back into the states and we'll have to fight in the U.S. instead of the middle east

According to some, there already was a Civil War there, before the surge quelled it, somewhat. Some people fear that pulling out of Iraq will cause a slaughter, similar to what happened when the US pulled out of Vietnam. The Iraq war was probably the wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time, for the US to be involved in. This is not to say that the war in Afghanistan, or the greater War on Terror are unjust, but many people think going into Iraq was a mistake. Saddam Hussein, although not a cuddly guy, had nothing to do with 9/11. He snubbed the Muslim Al Queida, because he was a secular (non religious) leader.

Great idea... the winners will either be Iran-back terrorists or Al Qaeda-backed terrorists... which would you prefer?

Either way you'll end up with a large oil-rich country hostile to the USA and an ideal training ground for terrorists in much the same way as Afghanistan was under the Taliban - with a number of significant differences:-
1. They'll turn off your oil supply
2. If the Iranian-backed groups win then they will have access to Iran's nuclear program (how do you fancy an atomic bomb attack in New York next time?)
3. They're much nearer Israel which means that they're much more likely to provoke a full-scale Middle-Eastern war. Only an isolationist fool would think that this would have no unpleasant consequences for the USA
4. Once the civil war in Iraq is over the dominant group will turn all its attention against the USA... anyone who thinks they'll just pack their weapons away and go home is living in a dream world. Either you fight these extremists in the streets of Bagdhad or in the streets of Hometown USA... the choice is yours.

Explain again how this is a civil war when Al-Queda, Iran, and Syria all have people involed in the war. That would be like Canada, and Mexico picking sides in the US Civil War. To answer your question, no we should leave only after the people of Iraq stand up to those who wish to see them dead.

I think we should pull out. Why have our troops fighting in a country that is at war with itself. These religious wars have been going since Bible times. What makes Bush think that we are going to be able to stop them from fighting among themselves?

You mean the civil war that our occupation created. That's the biggest part of the mess is that we most certainly should get the heck out of there, but morally we are responsible for all that is currently going on there. There has to be some sort of diplomatic agreement and economic support in order for us to get out cleanly.

We should pull from Iraq... it is not our right to mess with a sovereign state. there wouldn't be a civil war if the US never entered. we created the war. If you noticed, the bombings happen on places with US soldiers. If the US never messed with them, then there wouldn't be any civil war to begin with. duh...... we should put president bush on the heart of the city. so every suicide bomber will go to him. that you, there would be less deaths for our soldiers and one less corrupt useless person in this world.

As much as I would like to say yes, I can't. We helped create this mess and now morally and ethically we have to stay and clean it up. With that being said I don't think we have the people in office to implement such an action. I don't believe this is their goal.

Yes we should. I don't care what happens to any of them God will take care of all. I just think our troops should be home or in other parts of the world trying to help people that WANT to be helped, those people don't want our help. They want us gone, let them deall with their own S***, we have enough of our own to deal with.

Yes. Let whoever wins come to us when it's over and ask for help rebuilding. It's asinine to try to "rebuild" while there is still a damn war going on.
