Just by chance my best friends son got a job and moved to the same area of the country I live. She can't seem to accept the fact that he is grown and makes his own decisions. Now she has decided to fly back with me and visit him which is getting me involved with all this. My husband is a good man but won't put up with this conflict if it makes its way into our home. Any useful ideas other than blowing her off? She is a life time friend.

I think I must be missing something because I can't figure out why you would be involved. She is coming to visit her son and you since you are in the same area. I don't think that makes you an accessory to a meddling mother. She is your best friend. As such, give her a place to stay. Try to listen to her concerns about her son but then give her good best friend advice about letting him do his own thing. She is having a hard time letting go of her baby and she will need your support through this. To me, there is no conflict - love an support your best friend.

Tell her you love her and would do anything for her ,but you would rather not get involved and she is making a bad decision horning in on her son without an invitation to visit him., He is a grown man. and he has the right to his privacy.
