Yes, they are too good not to. They have the best hitting lineup in baseball. That alone will win most of their games. Once they get their pitching problems corrected they will make a run at the playoffs. Boston has been playing over their heads since the beginning of the season. Schilling is over the hill and won't last the season. Dice-K is nothing more than a minor league caliber pitcher.
The Yankees should pass the Red Sox sometime in late July or early August and win the division as they usually do. All you have to do is look at last season. The same thing happened and guess who made the playoffs? And guess who didn't?

Absolutely not. They are about 9 games behind the Red Sox. And frankly, the Yankees can't pitch. They can hit okay, but there is no pitching. There are several teams just in that division that are much better all around than the yankees. And don't even get me started on whether the Mets or the Yankees are better.

As a Yankee fan, I might say no considering how they are playing right now. But I know it's early and they will get done what they need to get done and yes they will be in the playoffs this season. Off to a slow start, but never count the Yankees out. Remember 14 games back and oh yeah Bucky Dent ring a bell?

I believe they will. Every team will go through the kind of run the Yankees are in now before the season is over. It just so happens that the poor start has high visibility because it is the beginning of the season. They certainly have the hitting and the pitching will come around or they will go find some pitching before the season is over

I believe they will. It'll be a battle, but their pitching is starting to resemble major league pitching. If the pitching can keep their collective era around the mid 3's, 7 times out of 10 the Yankee's offens will score more than 4 or 5 runs.

Of course. The hitters are out of their slumps, they are beginning to prove that they have the pitching, and the defense has improved. They got off to bad starts the last two years and still won the Division. They will win the A.L. East as the Red Sox pitching (40-year-old Curt Schilling, injury-prone Josh Beckett, never-pitched-in-a-162-game-season Daisuke Matsuzaka) is exhausted in September. Whether the Yanks will win the Pennant and the World Series, it's too soon to tell.

NO!!! They signed there death warrant when they paid waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy to much for Clemens to come back. Don't get me wrong, but Clemens need to retire and the Yankees need to stop overpaying for old guys and pitchers who suck. There ruining baseball when they pay someone that much. Just like the Red Sox did with Dice-K. Thatwas ridiculous. The Giants did with Barry Zito.

If I were placing a bet on the proposition right now, I'd bet no.
Their pitching staff is in tatters and Clemens alone isn't enough to right the ship, even assuming that he is as effective as he has been in the last 5 years.
If I were placing a bet on whether Torre would be around next year as manager, I'd also bet no.

Of course they will, they're the Yankees. No matter how bad they are doing early on (or later on, for that matter) they always seem to make it to the playoffs. (i realize i'm exaggerating, but you get my point.)
