The normal duration of an ODI is one day and fifty overs each side. If there is interruption due to rain or bad weather, the number of overs will be reduced. However, each side should be able to play atleast 20 overs each. Otherwise the game will be abandoned.

In some major tournaments, one reserve day will be kept. In case the match could not be played on the scheduled day or could not be completed on that day, the match can be played on the reserve day.
