Personally, I think it's way past time for him to retire.

I live in Wisconsin and I'm not afraid to say I hate the Packers. I know I'm one of the few who live in this state that doesn't like them. So I'll be the first to say It's time to pass the ball on.

Brett will retire when either:
A. No team wants him anymore.
or,
B. He is unable to play due to injury or ineffectiveness.

Now, honestly, every team in the NFL would LOVE to have Favre on their team. The Packers will never trade, release, or try to force Favre off the team. He could be 45 and the Packers would probably still keep him around if he wanted to play.
Taking into account Favre's numbers from the last 3 years, here are his averages.
Passing yards: 3951 yds per season
Touchdowns : 22 TDs
Passer Rating: 79 rating
Completions: 354 completions
Completion percentage: 60.5 %
Interceptions: 21

These numbers put Brett in the top third of the league in terms of QBs in the last 3 years. How can anyone want a guy to retire when he's still one of the BEST QBs AVAILABLE?

If you hate Brett being on TV all the time, tell the media to leave him alone for two minutes so you don't have to watch him. It's not him going out looking for press coverage, it's the press looking for the next big story.

As much as I don't want to see Favre to retire...I think it's time. I've been watching football for over 15 years and Favre is the last of the classic guys left, so I hate to see him go! I miss seeing Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Thurman Thomas, Dan Marino, Deion Sanders, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, etc. If the Packers were serious contenders, I would say that he should stick around and play this year...maybe next year too. The Packers will struggle once again to make 8-8, or somewhere around that record this year. They will miss the playoffs by 1 or 2 games and we will be right back to where we are this time next year. Brett just needs to give it up. I know he still wants to play and loves the game, but he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. He's got MVP's and a Super Bowl ring. No matter what, I think he's a top 5 all-time QB.

Personally, I think the man still has 1 or 2 more productive seasons in him. He still has the arm strength, his decision making isnt the best but never has been very good, and he is still in great shape despite his age. I feel like Green Bay should let him go, though. They are in a rebuilding phase and keeping a legendary QB like Favre isnt helping the rebuilding process. Favre will not be able to help the Packers go to the Super Bowl, MAYBE the playoffs, but thats a big maybe. He needs to either go to a contender whose only piece missing is QB or retire.

Does it really matter what we think....it isn't our decision.

Personally I would like to see him continue to play. He still brings great leadership to the field, still has a strong arm and better than average accuracy. He needs to improve on his decision making form the past few seasons. He is still fairly mobile and able to make time in the pocket.

Now that his offensive line has a year under their belts he will have more time and those bad decisions of the past couple years will diminish. His running game is a little suspect, but it appears Morency has gotten in better shape and is mentally ready to carry the load. The running back our of Nebraska should also be a decent addition. It appears he also has good hands for catching out of the back field. I am excited to see the receivers when Jennings is healthy and lined up next to Driver. Jones also looks like he has the tools to be a solid #3 if not better. If Ferguson can ever stay healthy he also has a lot of talent, but he has difficulty staying on the field. Franks will not have another year like last year because he knows if he does he will not have his job anymore. If he becomes more aggressive and begins making plays in the red zone like he did in the past then that will also help Favre score.

The defense is going to be solid enough to keep them in games this year so Favre should not feel like he has to do everything. I don't think he can return to MVP form, but I do see Favre having 3700 yards, 24 touchdowns, 14 ints.......and that will be just fine with me.

Also....To the person who sd Marino's records would be untouchable if he was around as long as Favre....Please review their stats....Marino played (and started) for 17 seasons. Favre has played for 16 seasons, but only started 15 of those. This upcoming year will be Favres 17th in the league.....the same as Marino.

ME! He should have retired 2 or 3 years ago. He's hurting the Packers more than he is helping. It comes a time when you have to put the team first and Brett aint doin that. He's bein selfish. Just like when he makes the team officials wait 2 or 3 months so he can make up his mind to retire. RETIRE ALREADY!! I don't even like the Packers and it hurts me to see that team suffering because of one selfish person.

GO BRONCOS!!!

I think Favre can play another two years or so, the real question is Favre need to move on to a championship caliber team if he wants to win before he retires, because GB is far from winning the title for the next two years. I like Favre eversince he joined the league and GB didn't do enough during the off season to upgrade their team talent in order to compete for strong post season.

it would desire to be attainable if: a million. Vikings commerce for a reasonable OB that Favre can lower back up for quite a few extra seasons, and a pair of. Like Blanda, Favre takes over container objective and extra factor duties. i think of Brett's physique will might desire to provide out before his recommendations realizes he bodily purely can no longer do it anymore.

You stated in your question that you live in Wisconsin and do not like the packers. So, why do you even care if he retires. I will tell you this, He is a lot better than Rex Grossman. Take that Bears fan.

Jeez, so your question must be a little biased. He's still one of the better QBs in the league. His numbers were good last year with a young line. So he can still play. So if he wants to he should. The Packers still need him. So no, it's not time for him to retire.

That is really up to Favre. I think he'll play this year and maybe next and then call it quits. Talent wise he is still one of the better QBs in the league so as long as he can play at that level why retire?
