For 2 reasons... First. because they tried the family thing and they realized that the customers those places attract dont gamble or spend a $100 in a restaurant.
The second reason is land values have gone through the roof in Vegas. Companies are paying upwards of $25 mil/acre on the strip and you just cant afford to put up an amusement park at those prices. This is the precise reason why Wet n Wild is no more and a $2 bil hotel/casino is being built in its place.

There is actually talks about amusement parks being built in Las Vegas. But thats all it was. Las Vegas big project is on the North side of Las Vegas, there going to attempt to build a big mall, almost the the same size (or even beat it) as that mall...um...that biggest mall in the world, somewhere in the U.S. lol Also including in it will be an amusement park.
Even though Las Vegas was built for adults, families are still moving into town, and Las Vegas is starting to build things around town for the children also. So right now Las Vegas is changing with the times, to add places for the children.

Nope I live in Las Vegas and rumor has it they are building a Six Flags here Hopefully They only "amusement park" in Las Vegas in Adventure Dome at Circus Cirus. I wouldnt even call it an Adventure Dome since the rides were made years ago. Its on the strip close to Sahra(street) Its nothing fancy. Its for parents to drop off their kids so they can go gambling. They have a lot of games though like Lazer Tag, Bumper Cars, and all that jazz

Well, Disneyland is right next door, so I don't think they'd build one of those anytime soon. We have a zoo but it really struggles to stay afloat, so I wouldn't see them doing anything with animals in the future, either.
Another water park is being built. It's called Las Vegas Wet and will be an indoor/outdoor water park. You can find more on it here: http://www.lasvegaswet.com/

Because I think the casinos in whole are trying to get away from that family friendly enviroment.
They want it to be a hip 20-30s enviroment as evident by all the ultra clubs and back to the days whern Vegas was really Sin City for the adults.

Because then the city would be swarming with families with children and Vegas is not a city for kids - they tried it and it failed.

It could work, but it would have to be several miles from the strip.
