The Wings have make it pretty clear they want Hasek back for another year. Best guess is they get him back and split starts with either Steffon Liv or Jimmy Howard, much the same as the Senators did with him mentoring Emery. Igor Grigorenko (the proper way to spell) is a fairly rugged forward and finally coming to America...look for him to play only in the NHL (I believe the deal was only if he made the team, otherwise he gets to return to Russia to play, not Grand Rapids). He has a chance to be very good. Tomas Kopecky will be given a bigger role now that he has filled out that skinny frame of his, again a gritty type forward with speed and a good shot. Johnathon Erriccson likely makes the team as well (defenseman)...huge Swede who has worked out a lot with Lidstrom and likely pairs with him this season. They will have cleared a lot of cap space by not resigning some guys and got cap freindly deals from others so a run a a physical forward seems likely as well. Chelios will return, the rest of the pending free agents likely will not with Calder and Lang both definitely gone and Bertuzzi wasnt happy with his playoff role so dont expect him to return either. Those seem the most likely things to happen for next year pending a trade.

I think if Hasek and Chelios want to play they should bring both of them back (assuming Hasek is willing to play for similar to what he made last year) They are both older, but they both had very good seasons for the Wings, especially Chelios, beyond that, they are adding IGOR GRIGORENKO... who has been their top prospect. They will definately let Calder go, and probably Bertuzzi too. I would like to see them hang onto Lang but I don't know if it will happen. They have a pretty solid core of young guys right now and they should focus on them, it would be nice if they could get Stefan Liv or Jimmy Howard some ice time in the NHL next season, but that would be tough if they resign Hasek

Lang and Calder wont be coming back, but Bertuzzi is a possibility. Chelios will be back, but we will probably only be able to sign one of the other two defenseman, Schneider or Markov. Montreal and the Islanders are both really interested in Schneider and hes expected to get offers around $5 million, and I think that's more than we can offer. If Hasek decides not to retire, we wont be the only ones trying to sign him. Tampa Bay will make him an offer, but I think he would rather stay in Detroit. If he doesn't return, expect Ozzy to be our starter since there is really only one good goaltender hitting the market this year.

Although he has played sketchy since his car accident, Grigorenko will be here next season and hopefully he performs well. The Wings are also going to make a push for Nashville's Scott Nichol. All Detroit really has to do this off season is fill out the second line, figure out the goaltending situation, and MAYBE get a defenseman. Expect Lilja and Lebda to have permanent spots on the roster next year. Since the cap is supposed to jump to somewhere around $48-51 million, they will probably sign one marquee free agent, but I wouldn't expect a whole lot of excitement other than that.

I think Chelios will be back. Bertuzzi won't. Thank god we traded him from the Panthers. Hasek is probably gone too. I like how the Wings are slowly rebuilding. You've got a great team there. You get new players every year, but the team plays with the same style and identity year over year and remains very competitive.

Hasek will be back and I think that Bertuzzi will be back also. He's going to take a pay cut and no team is going to give him 5.5 million a year. Igor is supposed to be a stud and watch out for a top 5 offensive free agent signing (Drury,Briere,Smyth,Guerin,Gomez) Any of these guys would look good with a winger wheel on there chest.

LANG IS GONE. and so is Calder.

Hasek probaly will stay beacuse he got the the red wings so far in playoffs. Bertuzzi will stay beacuse they just got him. Calder would be the same as bertuzzi. Lang is gonna stay cuz he has a sniper of a shot and thats what the wings need.

Hasek will be back...Lang, Burtuzzi and Calder won't be back.
As far as a prospect...they finally signed Igor Gregenko (sp?) to a contract a few months back...he was supposed to come up with Datsyuk and make a great one two Russian punch, but he got in a car accident in Russia so his arrival to the States was delayed...watch for him to be a dark horse of the Calder in either 2007-2008 or 2008-2009, depending on how he does in training camp/Grand Rapids.

wings want hasek back but he said he needs to make up his mind over the summer. bertuzzi may be back, he said he liked it here and woiuld like to be a part of our team in the future but who knows. calder is not likely to return. lang probably isnt either. we need to sign jiri hudler i think he's a great player, but i dont think they will since babcock didnt play him at all the last 2 series. another big question is schneider. i think chelios might have one more year on his contract but i could be wrong, but the next couple seasons do look like they will shape up nicely for the wings

Priority #1 - take Lang out behind the barn and shoot him. Bertuzzi should be taken on for much less than his 5.5 million buck salary, maybe 2.5 - 3 is okay - he couldn't get much more on the open market. resign cheli, schneider (2 years contract with team option in 3rd year). holland did great giving datsyuk long-term contract. give hasek another year. goalie situation is good with hasek and osgood. cleary can stay for many years, he's character even when he doesn't score. lebda has to be more responsible.

I don't know if JS Giguerre is available but they should get rid of Bertuzzi, Chelios, and Hasek because they are old and expensive and use the cap space for Giguerre
