The definition is in constant transition. I'm beginning to doubt who I am anymore. I know my ancestors have been here since 1683, but the American Indian preceded my ancestors. So, what is by definition an American today is different from 50 yrs ago or 50 yrs from now. The illegal (verses LEGAL) immigration situation is in crisis mode, and the way it gets resolved will determine a multiple of things and effect future generations. Our fate is in the "powers that be" 's hands. Alas!

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." ~~John Quincy Adams (July 11, 1767 – February 23, 1848), diplomat, politician, and President of the United States (March 4, 1825 – March 4, 1829).

It is questions such as these which boggle my mind. We are a people accustomed to so many freedoms that we take our living situations for granted.

The most important thing about being an American, to me, means the ability to dream big and to follow through on my dreams. Many people around the world are not so fortunate and continue to look to us for leadership.

Americans are by far the best consumers in the world. We are the best because we don't really care what the ramifications of our consumption are or will be. We just know that we WANT and that the rest of the world better not get in the way of our attempt to fulfill our bottomless needs.

The peoples of the middle east are trying to get in our way and therefore deserve our wrath.

THAT is what Americans have become.

The biggest bromide of our times is those that make a living in this country through either hard work or mooching, and attribute their success to their country of origin. The problem with this country is that it has no identity. But I always say, the best of every country came here, they had the guts, the boldness, the desire and ambition to leave their countries and come here to achieve the best within them. Why do they spend so much time still admiring their homelands? All those that had no guts stayed home in their countries, never had the drive to come here to America.
